Celestial Movement
Star Mitchell is a transmuting force of light, committed to using their art to heal and guide them closer toward ancestral connection. A native New Yorker, multidisciplinary artist, Choreographer, and Performance Educator. Their experience and commitment towards arts education, and creative assistance has been a continuous offering toward their community since 2016. Black mental health and AfroFuturism greatly contribute to their creative vision and collaborations. Continuously coming back to a place of questioning and dreaming of a more inclusive and safe future for folks who live intersectionalities. Some of my credits include the Black Aesthetics Program at Judson Memorial Church (2024), The New School’s Alumni Showcase (2024), Charlene Jean’s “Mushroom Kingdom”(2024) Oskar Sinclair's "I'll Be At Home, Maybe With You.." Series ( 2023), Bristol Mary Dance Company (2023-present), and EMERGENYC's Residency Program with Brooklyn Arts Exchange (2023).

A creative person has to create. It doesn't really matter what you create. If such a dancer wanted to go out and build the cactus gardens where he could, in Mexico, let him do that, but something that is creative has to go on.
